“Silence is betrayal,” Rev. Jackson said, “it is surrender. We the people must not be silent. We must speak up and speak out. We stand with Kim Foxx.”
Rev. Jackson said the attacks on Foxx, the first African American woman to become Cook County’s top prosecutor – and its most progressive – are “unreasonable, unjustified and politically motivated.”
He said the anger that sparked the Fraternal Order of Police’s (FOP) anti-Foxx protest scheduled for Monday morning over the handling of the Jussie Smollett case is misplaced, out of proportion and distracts from vitally needed criminal justice reform, of which Foxx has been at the forefront.
“We appeal to the FOP not to polarize the city,” Rev. Jackson said. “Kim Foxx is a force for good and an agent of change.”
